Red acne spots even after the pimple is gone, why?

a lot of the time after a pimple is gone, i will still have a red spot where the pimple was, and this red spot will stay there for weeks and in some cases the area has stayed red for more than a month. Why? and how can i stop this? I use all kinds of acne creams but they dont help with the red spots.

The problem is that the red spots arent Acne or pimples, they are scars. Just like when you get a cut you will have a red mark for a few weeks until new skin grows and the scar fades away.

If you are popping or cutting the pimples to try and get rid of them, this is what causes the red marks - definitely don’t do this! If you have a spot that is a whitehead (has the eww white goo in it) you can get some tissue and gently apply pressure at each side of the spot to pop it, after doing so clean the area and wash your face. Doing too rough will aggravate the skin and make it worse, and cause a scar.

It is best to leave pimples untouched and clean your face daily, this way it should dissapear naturally and there will only be a slight red mark for a few days.

So the best way to get rid of a red mark is to make the skin on your face regenerate quicker, meaning the layer of skin with the red mark dies and a new layer grows. This isnt possible to do but you can promote the growth of new skin by drinking lots of water and ex foliating once a week to get rid of any dead skin.

    Good luck!
